Willie Diggs Basketball Foundation mission, duty and purpose is to improve the academic and community life of boys and girls through the game of basketball by providing funding support for educational and athletic purposes.

It is the Foundation’s belief that participation in sports, specifically basketball, can have a significant impact on the overall development and quality of life of children and youth as they prepare for adulthood.

Our goal is to encourage and support academic achievement and community service while promoting the development of leadership and communication skills, as well as self-esteem in youth of all ages through sports-related activities.

Willie Diggs Basketball Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose mission, duty and purpose is to improve the academic and community life of boys and girls through the game of basketball, providing funding support for educational and athletic purposes.

It is the Foundation’s belief that participation in sports, specifically basketball, can have a positive impact on the overall development and quality of life of children and youth as they prepare for adulthood. Regardless of socioeconomic status, gender, age or family structure, the benefits of youth participation in sports extends beyond physical but to academic, social, and emotional aspects as well.

The Foundation’s goal is to encourage and support academic achievement, teamwork, and community service while promoting the development of leadership and communication skills, as well as self-esteem in youth of all ages through sports-related activities.

Your support allows us:

Promote the positive impact of sports participation for youth and their communities
Encourage sports participation by providing individual and team-based funding support
Increase athletic opportunities for youth to receive athletic training by reducing the financial burden associated with participating in sports
Build community partnerships with schools and businesses to increase sports awareness and the need for funding in income-deprived areas
Improve the academic life of student-athletes by providing educational outreach activities as well as materials and supplies needed for academic success.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

“Changing Generations One Kid At A Time”

Sam Kidd was a flourishing student in the WD Basketball Academy but after his father lost his job he was no longer able to attend. After several months of not speaking to anyone, his therapist asked was there anything he wanted to say or do and his response was, “I want to go back to Uncle Willie”. Sam returned and has had an awesome junior year playing both varsity football and basketball where he was first-team all-conference safety. None of this would’ve been possible without the funds raised through the golf tournament.

Nigel Black is being raised a single-family home with his brother Elliot who were both able to attend the Basketball Academy with the help and support of the Foundation. Although he struggled academically for a while the Academy environment and experience challenged him to do better not only on the court but in the classroom and he did just that. Nigel is now at McNamara High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on a basketball scholarship. Both Nigel’s and Elliot’s future is very bright.

Rico, Kaden, and Ava Limcaoco are three of the Academy’s brightest young stars and without the support of the Foundation it would be almost impossible for them as a family to participate. Ava who is only eight was MVP of the league and of the championship game they won this year. Kaden’s team went undefeated and won the championship game with him as the starting point guard . Rico leads the WDBA seventh grade team in minutes played, assist and steals.
